How to Improve Your Swim Technique in 3 Steps
1. Identify precise areas of improvements
Improving technique requires specificity. Break down your strokes and find areas where you're losing speed. Is it in your pull? Kicks? Body position? Locate areas of weaknesses - this will be your starting point.
2. Focus on these areas specifically at practice
Implement drills to isolate and develop the areas you've identified as your weak points. Start slow, and once you see improvements, gradually incorporate speed and strength. Make sure you're able to retain good technique when you're going at a faster speed!
3. Ask someone for feedback
Whether it's from your coach or a teammate, ask someone to watch and evaluate your technique. Having another set of eyes to give you constructive feedback can help you find new ways to improve and ensure you're on the right track.
